IMLS Bookshelf award helps Historic Crail Ranch
manage our historic collections

Historic Crail Ranch was awarded the Institute of Museum and Library Services Connecting to Collections Bookshelf.   The Bookshelf is a set of resources selected by conservation/preservation experts throughout the country. It contains informative, practical materials designed to help small to mid-sized museums and libraries improve the care of their historic collections.
The Historic Crail Ranch is fortunate to possess a collection of historic objects, documents, and photographs vividly portraying everyday life in the Gallatin Valley during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These objects were donated to us by the Crail family and other donors representing pioneering families who made Big Sky their home.
The Institute of Museum and Library Services is the primary source of federal support for the nation's 123,000 libraries and 17,500 museums. The Institute's mission is to create strong libraries and museums to sustain heritage, culture, and knowledge; enhance learning and innovation; and support professional development. To learn more about the Institute, please visit www.imls.gov.
By arrangement with the Friends of the Big Sky Library, all of the books in the "Connecting to Collections" bookshelf will be available as reference materials in the Big Sky Library.
